Uma semana em 2025

We take the bits and pieces that come our way… and for us since we moved to the U.S. in 2019 those pieces of Portugal have been too few and far between.

But we’ve made the most of them, capturing the images, flavors, vistas, and music of the land we love, caching them close by until we’re able to return for good.

For Semana Santa 2025, we spent the week in our beloved Portugal, flying into Porto from Munich, driving down to Praia das Maçãs through Óbidos, and then returning to the north to spend a couple of days near Barcelos.

We’ve gathered stories to share from each of those days. It was pure happenstance, the timing of the trip, but the universe works in mysterious ways, bringing us close to those we love who are still there, and those places we’ve kept close to our hearts.

We had Delta cafés, salgadas, bolos, secretos, tremoços, bisteca, ostras, robalo, alheira, and, yes, pizza.

And we drank wine… many of the wines we missed that cannot be found stateside, along with special ones shared with friends.
