Tasting Notes, October 2024

A gift from friends to celebrate Marathon #20 accomplished…

We opened up the Adelaida 2021 HMR Estate Vineyards Pinot Noir from the Adelaida District, in Paso Robles, to accompany lamb chops with a tarragon cream sauce.

The deep jewel-toned clear garnet color shone in the evening light filtering softly through the wind break, made golden by autumn’s march.

In the glass: Pomegranate aromas with hint of thyme, then candied watermelon on the palate at first, then tingeing to pomegranate arils with a bit of the pith, with a balsalmic undertone on the finish. Light to moderate tannins and weight and a fresh mouthfeel. Still young at 3 years…

Adelaida Vineyards is one we visited in June 2009 during our PCH trip stop in Paso Robles… glad we’ve stayed in touch as these are proving a benchmark for the region’s reds.
